JEFF RICHARDS
Jeff has over 25 years of collegiate coaching experience. Anyone who has been to an SUU gymnastics meet has likely seen Jeff Richards supporting and coaching his athletes. As the assistant gymnastics coach at SUU for a total of 16 years, Jeff is an intrinsic part of SUU’s athletic staff and has loved every minute of it. Prior to SUU, Jeff's coaching opportunities spanned across the country, including positions at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, Winona State University, University of Iowa, Utah State University, George Washington University, and Penn State University. He loves that he has had the opportunity to coach at so many different places! Outside of coaching, Jeff enjoys riding his Harley, hiking, mountain biking, wakeboarding, and snowboarding, as well as getting out and exploring Utah alongside his wife and five daughters. IVAN ALEXOV
Ivan Alexov just finished his sixth year with the Boise State gymnastics team. In the 2022 season, he was named the Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference (MRGC) assistant coach of the year! Prior to joining the Boise State staff, Alexov, who has more than 25 years of coaching experience across all levels of gymnastics, spent the previous five years as a member of the USA Gymnastics National Team staff, and co-owner of Omega Gymnastics in Beaverton, Ore. Throughout his coaching career Alexov has achieved numerous accolades, including being named Region II Junior Olympics Coach of the Year three times. Showcasing his versatility across all levels, Alexov has coached Level 9 and 10 gymnasts to national titles, trained athletes that went on to earn college scholarships and coached athletes at international competitions. He also served as the Region II Junior Olympics Committee Chairman for two years. Alexov was a member of the Bulgarian National Team for eight years, and is a three-time Bulgarian National Champion. He was also a member of the European and World Championship Teams in 1991 and 1994. He enjoys spending time with his family and traveling back home to Bulgaria any chance he gets. We are thrilled to have Ivan join our Top Flight staff again this year!
DAVID SEILER
Top Flight is very excited and fortunate to announce clinician David Seiler is coming back to Top Flight Camp! David is currently the assistant coach at UC Davis in NorCal. He has coached at Dream Extreme and Head Over Heals in Northern California’s Bay Area. He’s known as the “uneven bars guru” throughout Region 1 and has coached many National bar champions. His former gymnasts have earned scholarships to UCLA, ASU, CAL, and UW. In 2017, he was named NorCal Coach of the Year. A well-respected presenter at National Congress and camps, David’s positive energy and enthusiam are always a great addition to Top Flight! He’s an athlete favorite at every camp he coaches. We are SO excited to have him join us again this year!
QUIN SHANNON
Quin has been coaching gymnastics for over 30 years. He recently retired as the Gymnastics Director for the Magdalena Ecke YMCA Gymnastics Center in Carlsbad California. The gymnastics center is one of the largest programs in the YMCA and serves over 2000 kids per week. He was also the assistant coach for Utah State from 1998-2002. When Coach Quin isn’t surfing or guest coaching, he is running his equipment business https://extremeathletic.com/. His recent endeavor, Quin’s Boot Camp for Gymnastics Coaches, is very popular with gymnastics schools for training staff. His ability to bring “Productive FUN” to gymnastics in the JO and XCEL Program is legendary. Every camp Coach Quin is at is an experience every gymnast remembers, just ask the previous Top Flight campers!
SHAY GARNER
As a gymnastics coach for two decades, Shay has had the privilege of guiding countless athletes through their gymnastics journey. From beginners mastering fundamental skills to college-level competitors refining their routines, she fosters a culture of discipline, perseverance, and excellence. Her coaching philosophy emphasizes technique, strength training, and mental preparedness, ensuring that athletes not only excel in competition but also develop a lifelong passion for the sport. Combining her extensive experience as a gymnastics and cheer athlete, coach, and judge, her coaching approach is grounded in a deep understanding of the sport from multiple perspectives. She cultivates a culture of resilience, sportsmanship, and continuous growth, equipping athletes with the skills and mindset necessary to thrive both on and off the mat. Currently she is a traveling coach, sharing her vast knowledge, coaching at clinics and subbing at gymnastics schools in the United States and Costa Rica. Along with her love of coaching gymnastics and cheer, Shay is a GK Elite Sportswear rep, outfitting many of our Regional athletes and club athletes. Her designs are amazing, in fact, she has designed our custom Top Flight leotards for 10 years! She puts her heart and soul into any project she takes on. Welcome back to Top Flight Shay! We are excited for her to share her knowledge with our athletes!
MADI DAGAN
Madi spent 5 years competing for Oregon State. Scholastically she finished up with a bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Sciences. Gymnastically, she was part of a history making Oregon State team and earned many individual accolades! -2021 WCGA Regular Season All-America Second Team, Vault -2023 Pac-12 Scholar Athlete of the Year -2021 All-Pac-12 First Team, Vault & Balance Beam -2019 All-Pac-12 Second Team, Balance Beam -Five-time WCGA Scholastic All-America honoree -Team captain 2 of her 5 years Madi enjoys coaching since her retirement and has coached the popular Beam Queen Boot Camp series. One piece of advice she would give to younger gymnasts is that "Sometimes you need to remind yourself how cool you are because most people cannot do what you do." We are so excited to have Madi join us at Top Flight Camp!
